MACEDON, Kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), gold stater, (8.58 g), Pella Mint, issued c.345/2-340/36 B.C., obv. head of Apollo to right with laureate wreath, rev. galloping biga driven by charioteer holding goad to right, cicada above, in exergue **FILIPP[OU]*, (cf.S.6663, Le Rider Group IC 56, SNG ANS 128, Weber 2040 [same dies]). Small edge bruise and a few light scratches, good very fine/nearly extremely fine and scarce.
