CALIGULA WITH AGRIPPINA SENIOR, (A.D. 37-41), gold aureus, Lugdunum Mint, issued A.D. 37-38, (7.73 g), obv. laureate head of Caligula to right, around C CAESAR AVG PON M TR POT, rev. draped bust of Agrippina Senior right, her hair is waved from the brow downward and knotted in a long plait at the back, one curly lock falls loosely down the neck, around, AGRIPPINA MAT C CAES AVG GERM, (S.1824, RIC 21, Calico 326 (same dies as illustration), BMC 14, Biaggi 194). Attractively toned with underlying lustre, a few small marks, otherwise good very fine and very rare.
