MAURICE TIBERIUS, (562-602 AD), gold solidus (4.33 g), Constantinople Mint, 2nd officina, (struck 583-601 AD), obv. helmeted, draped, and cuirassed bust facing, holding globus cruciger in right hand, rev. Angel standing, facing, holding a staff surmounted by staurogram in right hand and globus cruciger in left. Graffito on margin of obverse, weak portrait, minor reverse die flaws, otherwise very fine.
