SICILY, Syracuse, (c.450-440 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.12 g), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer holding kentron in right hand and reins in both hands, Nike flying right crowning horses, ketos to right in exergue, rev. **SU*R**AKOSI ON* around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair rolled and tucked under diadem, wearing necklace, four dolphins clockwise around, (cf.S.914, Boehringer 532 [obverse 273/reverse 373 these dies], Pozzi [lot 577 same dies]). Attractive, very fine and very rare.
