THESSALY, Thessalian League, (c.mid - late 1st century B.C.), silver stater or double victoriatus, (24mm, 5.91 g), Polyxenos and Eukolos, magistrates, obv. head of Zeus right, wearing laurel wreath, rev. **QESSA LWN** to left and right, Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm, **POLU-XEN[OU]* above spear, **EUKOLOS* in exergue, (cf.S.2233. SNG Alpha Bank 288, De Luynes 1873, BCD 846 [Triton XV]). Toned, nearly extremely fine and rare.
