KYRENAICA, Kyrene, Magas as Ptolemaic Governor, first reign, (c.300-282/75 B.C.), silver didrachm, (7.72 g), obv.^head of Karneios right, rev. Silphium plant, crab to upper left, monogram to upper right, K Y - **P* A to sides, (cf.S.6323, SNG Cop.1243, BMC 254 [same dies]). Attractively toned, strong portrait, very fine and very scarce.

Ex Anthony (Tony) Taylor Collection.^CNG Auction 114, lot 446. Previously the JTB Collection. Ex Obolos 8 (2 December 2017), lot 117; Stoecklin Collection (with ticket), acquired from Bank Leu prior to 1975.
