GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-44), silver denarius (3.52g), Rome mint, 5th officina, 7th emission, issued 240 AD, obv. laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust facing right, IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG around, rev. Venus Victrix standing left, holding helmet and sceptre, leaning on shield set on ground, VENVS VICTRIX around (S.8683; RIC IV 131; RSC 347). Bright surfaces, traces of green deposits on reverse, nearly extremely fine.
