CONVICT LOVE TOKEN, engraved on a 1797 cartwheel penny with the reverse shaved smooth, holed at the top, on the obverse side is carved the letter, "J", on the other side is carved, "(the top line is crossed out)/ Keep this Medal/In Remembrance/of James Woodriffe/Special (crossed hearts with arrows through them) Affection". A few small edge nicks, otherwise very good.

James Woodriffe, aged 17, watch barrel maker, sentenced to life in the colonies for an unknown felony. Arrived in Van Diemen's Land on 8 December 1821. With research.
