PHOCAS, (602-610 AD), gold solidus, (4.42 g), Constantinople Mint, officina A, obv. ON FOCAS PERP AVG, cuirassed and draped bust facing, wearing crown without pendilia, holding globus cruciger, rev. VICTORIA AVGG A, angel standing facing, holding staff surmounted by staurogram and globus cruciger, CONOB in exergue (S.618, MIB II 7, DOC II 5c). Striking weakness in parts of rim, otherwise extremely fine.
