THRACE, Island off, Thasos, (c.early 5th century B.C.), silver stater, (8.84 g), obv. naked ithyphallic satyr (classical style) in kneeling running attitude carrying off nymph raising hand in protest, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (S.1746, BMC 24, McClean 4197, SNG Cop 1010, ACNAC Dewing 1322). Toned, flan crack at 12, otherwise very fine.
