MACEDON, Koinon of Macedon, Severus Alexander, (222-235 A.D.), (12.42 g), AE 26, Beroea Mint, obv. diademed head of Alexander the Great right, around **ALEXANDROU*, dotted border, rev. warrior standing facing, head left, holding reverted spear and parazonium, around **MAKEDONWN BN*, dotted border, (S.-, AMNG III 517). Deeply toned, some surface pitting, nearly very fine and very rare.

Ex Dr Hugh Preston Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 135 (lot 4173), previously CNG Auction 423, June 27, 2018 (lot 234).^A rare example with Alexander the Great portrait on the obverse, the warrior on the reverse standing could be Alexander in his Macedonian military uniform.
