Ex Alan McRae Collection.^The first recipient also entitled to Victory Medal 1914-19.^William Henry Wattman, textile worker, age 35, born at Surrey Hills, Sydney, NSW; previous service with Australian Rifles Volunteers; Enl.01Jan1917 at Sydney, NSW in 9th RFTS for 45 Bn; NSW; Emb.24Jan1917; to France, 19Jun1917; to hospital with trench fever 15Dec1917; Rtn to France 14May1918; WIA 03Jul1918, shrapnel wound to head; rejoined Bn 11Aug1918; RTA 03Mar1919; Disch.25May1919; Died 11Dec1928.^The Greek War Medal, Land Campaign was issued to Australians who fought in Crete, Greece, Albania, Macedonia and Epirus. It was issued unnamed and was not authorised to be worn with Australian groups. Not a large number were issued to Australians.
