BANKSTOWN SOLDIERS RELIEF COMMITTEE, return from the Great War presentation medal in silver (24,5mm), with ring top suspension, reverse engraved, "G.Landers". Very fine.

Entitled to WWI Trio.^Ex G.Mustang 21/10/2022.^George Albert Landers, clerk, age 18, born at Lowton, Manchester, Lancashire, England; Enl.21Jun1915 at Liverpool, NSW under false name of George Grant as he was just under 16 and forged permission to enlist from false mother, Mrs Mary Ann Grant and with previous experience in 39Bn (Bankstown) Senior Cadets; later he re-attested under his own name on 31Jul1915, no written parental consent noted, maybe oral; Emb.09Aug1915 with 8RFTS to 4 Bn; joined 4Bn on Gallipoli 11Nov1915; proceed to France 23Mar1916 returned to 4Bn on 13Apr1916 and promoted to L/Cpl 25Apr1916; 06Dec1916 buried in trench and claimed this caused R hydrocoele and hernia and admitted to hospital on 13Dec1916 and evacuated to England and admitted to 3AGH; discharged from hospital 26Jan1917 and allotted to 4 Command Depot and then Trf to HQ No 3 Command Depot 17Mar1917; Medical Report 25May1917 and advised "Home Service" due to underage; married Martha Burchall of Lancashire on 26Dec1918; RTA with wife 31May1919; Disch.23Jul1919.^With copy of Service File and other research.
