NEW SOUTH WALES, five shillings or holey dollar, 1813, struck on a Charles IV 1789 Mexico City Mint 8 Reales (Mira/Noble 1789/3)(dies I/10:B/11). A most attractively toned and struck example with the countermarks virtually upright relative to the original coin. Nearly extremely fine, the finest of seven known with the bust of Charles III and regnal title IV and one of the most desirable of all holey dollars known.

Ex B.A.Seaby Ltd (bought from a Church School) (C&M Bulletin Jan, 1968, p.39) C.E.Pitchfork Collection, Glendining sale 27th September 1972 (lot 261), Paul Worth Collection (Spink Australia Sale 24, lot 1039) and the late George Roberts Collection (from Noble Numismatics in 1999).
