MYSIA, Lampsakos, (c.500-490 B.C.), electrum stater, (15.125 grams), obv. forepart of winged horse to left bridled with round wings, reaces of vine branch above, rev. quadripartite incuse square with alternatively raised and sunk squares, (cf.S.3881 [£2500 commoner variety], Boston 1582 [p.206, Pl.77 similar dies], cf.ACNAC Rosen 523, cf.SNG von Aulock 1289, 1292, Bab. I, 323 var., Baldwin Period I, [AJN 1914, p.7, Pl.I, 9] No.11, cf.BMC 7, Weber 5105). Very fine and extremely rare and probably the earliest example recorded from this city.
Ex Seaby Coin & Medal Bulletin, June 1974 (G416 illustrated Å“1350) with ticket that notes price Å“1250 and Swiss Francs 6250. Agnes Baldwin does not list these dies but notes the existance of 13 examples of Period I and 40 examples of Period II.
