SUSSEX, Shoreham, Clayton & Hide's shilling, obv. church/plain, (D.16 variant); Steyning, S. Gates or I. Cheesman's shillings, 1811 legend/beehive, by H. Morgan, H.M. under beehive (D.17, D.18). Fine, extremely fine, nearly extremely fine, all very rare. (3)

Ex W.J. Noble Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 58 (lot 1801) and the first from P. Deane Collection, the others from Baldwin's London in October 1973. The Clayton & Hide shilling has a plain reverse and appears to be struck as a uniface example, probably as an example before mulling it with the Ipswich Suffolk (D.7) die.
