SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D. 193-211), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 202-210, (7.122 grams), obv. laureate head of Septimius Severus to right, around SEVERVS PIVS AVG, rev. around RESTITVTOR VRBIS, Roma seated to left on shield, holding palladium and spear, (cf.S.1740, RIC 288, C.605). About as struck on a large flan, extremely fine and very rare.
