ITALY, Campania, Hyria, (c.400-395 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (6.892 grams), obv. head of crested helmeted Athena to right, with owl and wreath on helmet, rev. man-headed bull to right, above reversed YDINA, AE monogram below bull, (S.294 [£200], Rutter Group 6, No. 65 [obv. die 31, rev. die 59], Hunter 6 [same dies], SNG Cop. 373 [same dies]). Fine and very rare.

Rutter in his 1979 exhaustive study of this mint knew of only 414 examples of this mint in all of the public and the published private collections. Almost all examples known from this mint are worn coins. Only seven examples are known from this die combination all in public collections and two of these are indicated above.
