SICILY, Gela, (c.480/475-475/470 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.456 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven right by male charioteer holding reins, Nike above crowning horses, dotted border, rev. forepart of man headed bull to right with long beard, around **GELAS, (cf.S.795, Jenkins 124, obv. 36, rev. 75 [notes only eight examples known of these dies]). Die flaw on break on reverse, slightly off centred on the obverse, otherwise very fine and a scarce die combination.
