MACRINUS, (A.D. 217-218), AE dupondius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 217, (13.294, grams), obv. radiate draped and cuirassed bust of Macrinus to right, around IMP CAES M OPEL SEV MACRINVS AVG, rev. around PONTIF MAX TR PPP, SC across field, Jupiter standing to left holding thunderbolt and sceptre, (S.-, RIC 120, C.73). Slightly of centred, good fine/fine, rare.
Ex A.H. Baldwin & Sons, London, August 1954, and Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III (lot 1716 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with a ticket.
