MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.584 grams), Babylon mint, issued 311-305 B.C. during second satrapy of Seleucus, obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with serpent, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, **BA SILEWS* and HP monogram in lower left field, to right **ALEXANDPOU* and MI monogram, (cf.S.6702; Price 3775, SC 81.5, M.1304, BMC 3775). Nearly extremely fine and rare.
