William Henry Royals. Enl.12May1915. K.I.A. 4Oct1917 Belgium. MM:'During the attack on German position north of Flers on morning of 5th November 1916, this man returned three times across No-mans land with messages, bombs and ammunition. This required great determination and resolve and was mainly instrumental in enabling 'B' Company, who captured the trench, to hang on. No-man's-land was being heavily shelled and swept with machine gun fire during this period'. Name commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial Ypres, Belgium. Together with memorial plaque named to William Henry Royals, and research.
