HADRIAN, (A.D. 117-138), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 118, obv. laureate draped bust of Hadrian to right, around IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, rev. ANNONA AVG, PONT MAX TR POT COS DES III around, S C across, Annona standing left, between modius and prow of ship, holding corn-ears and cornucopiae, (S.3576, RIC 560a, C.1143). Housed with inscription placque and displayed for both sides in a gilt glass timbered frame, very fine and rare.

Ex Spink & Son, Ltd. with The Copperfield Gallery, Mosman, Sydney, 'An Exhibition of Ancient Numismatic Art 550 B.C. - 600 A.D. No.59 in the published catalogue. The Exhibition was held in November 1976.
