IONIA, Ephesus, (c.128-67 B.C.), silver cistophoric tetradrachms, (12.12 grams), issued year 67 = 68-67 B.C., obv. cista mystica containing serpent, all within ivy wreath, rev. bow in case between two coiled serpents, to left **XZ* over **[E]FE*, to right race torch, ear of grain between opposed cornucopiae, (cf.S.4394, SNG Cop. 335, Hunter 28, Kleiner [Museum Notes 18] No.72, Pinder 53); another (11.988 grams), issued year 66 = 69-68 B.C., obv. and rev. similar except **X*C to left for date and palm branch instead of ear of grain, (BMC 171, McLean 8098, Pinder 51, Kleiner 70). First in need of cleaning, otherwise good fine; good/very fine. (2)
