NERO, (A.D. 54-68), AE Sestertius, issued c.66, Rome mint, (24.2 grams), obv. laureate head to right of Nero, around NERO CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG GERM P M TR P IMP PP, rev. congiarium, Nero seated to left on platform, officia l before, boy behind, Minerva and Liberalitas facing, around traces CONG II DAT POP, SC in exergue, (cf.S.1955, RIC 161, BMC 140, WCN 88). Tiber patina, some minor weakness in reverse legend, some surface roughness, otherwise very fine and a rare type.

Ex George Piunti, Wellington stamp and coin dealer of 1980's, acquired in 1980.
