PHILIP I, (A.D. 244-249), AE as, Rome mint, (9.0 grams), obv. laureate bust of Philip I to right, around IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG, rev. four standards, around [F]IDES EXERCITVS, S C in exergue, (cf.S.2593, RIC 171b, C.52). Deep green patination, strong sharp portrait, otherwise nearly extremely fine and scarce.

Ex. Sir Charles Oman collection, Christie's, February 7, 1968 (lot 196 part) and a duplicate from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with their distinctive ticket.
