HOSTILIAN, as Caesar, (A.D. 251), AE Sestertius, (22.29 grams), Rome mint, obv. bare-headed bust to right of Hostilian, draped and cuirassed, around C VALENS HOSTIL MES QVINTVS N C, rev. Apollo seated to left, holding branch resting on lyre, around PRINC IVVENT, SC in exergue, (cf.S.2764, RIC 214). Good flan, with attractive chocolate-brown patina, some double striking on the reverse, portrait nearly extremely fine, otherwise very fine and very scarce.
