Thomas Bela Bowling Enl 21Mar1916. C.G.:29Jan1920. 'During the operations commencing 29th September, 1918, in the neighbourhood of Bellicourt, he was employed in making reconnaissances for wells and water points. He kept up with the infantry, and brought back valuable information. Under heavy shell fire, he cleared wells in the towns and villages captured, and was largely instrumental in providing water for the fighting troops. He showed great gallantry and initiative.'
