GROUP OF FOUR. Distinguished Conduct Medal (GVR); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal. 3255 WO2 A.J. Beaton 14Bn. A.I.F. Impressed. Very fine. $ DCM: L.G. 11 March 1920. 'For gallantry on the 18th September, 1918, in the attack on the Hindenburg outposts near Ascension Wood. He delivered rations up to the company after the first part of the attack had taken place. On hearing that the attack was to continue he led the bombing attack on an enemy trench that was holding out.' Together with extensive Australian archives research with copies of documents relating to his military career; and letter to his mother regarding his award.
