IN APPRECIATION CERTIFICATE, World War I illustrated colour appreciation certificate. 'Presented by the Citizens of Mascot (Sydney) to Driver L. Carter in recognition of his action in serving with the Australian Expeditionery Forces in the great war which commenced on August 4th 1914' signed Clarence E.J. Hughes Mayor and Wm. Hughes Town Clerk, surrounded by five colour vignettes depicting an artillery gun, horse soldier with rifle, troops, battle ship, soldier with loved one and countries flags (by A.J.K.), together with a central picture of Driver Carter, housed in a period oak frame (54.5cm x 44cm). Sold with a coloured picture of the troopship S.S. Nestor and Driver Carter housed in a carved oak period frame (62.5cm x 61cm). Two items.
