THE VICTORIAN CENTENARY - INTERNATIONAL AIR RACE, sponsored by MacRobertson, 1934 in 18 carat gold (39mm) by Stokes (C.1934/5). In Hardy Brothers, Australia, brown leather and gilt case of issue with original blue-green ribbon and 9 carat gold suspension bar with 'MacRobertson.' Uncirculated and very rare. $ Twenty started in this great race and only twelve finished the race within the 16 calendar days allowed, the race being won by the Englishmen Scott and Campbell-Black in a DeHavilland Comet. Twenty nine medals were believed struck, this one is thought to have been won by an English pilot. (See N.A.A. Journal Vol 4, p.3-11, article by Ray Jewell.)
