DURRANI, Ahmad Shah (A.H. 1160-1186) (A.D. 1747-1772), gold mohur, Shahjahanabad mint, regnal year 14, dated (117)4 = A.D. 1760-1, (A.3090, M.-, KM. 765, cf.Lahore 26). Slightly bent, extremely fine, very rare, the Regnal year and date combination unlisted.
A very rare issue made at Shahjahanabad mint (Delhi) by Ahmad Shah of the Durranis are the results of the two expeditions to Delhi destroying that city. The first took place in A.H. 1170 and was of a short duration. The second capture a took place in A.H. 1173 and lasted until 1174, these being struck after the battle of Panipat. This coin is struck in the Moghul style which is much rarer than those struck in the Durrani style.
