ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (344-334 B.C.), silver stater, (7.80 grams), obv. warrior on horse to right galloping holding shield and spears, **SIM* below, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, **FI* below, TAPA**S* to right, eagle standing to left, (cf.S.337, Vl.573, SNG ANS 980 [same dies], Evans Period V). Irregular shape, very fine and a rare symbol.
