ATTICA, Aegina, (510-490 B.C.), silver stater, (12.06 grams), obv. smoothed shell sea turtle without row of dots down dorsal spine, countermarked on shell, rev. small incuse square, of 'skew pattern' design with five sunken triangle compartments, (S.1858, Asyut Group VII, 'Small skew' cf.541, SNG Cop. 511-3). Bankers mark on turtle, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.

This is the second major stage of development in the reverse punch style. The issue has been noted to have been countermarked on the turtle shell and some of these countermarks have been attributed to other city states.
