SASSANIAN KING, Ardashir, I (A.D. 224-240), silver drachm, (4.41 grams), obv. bearded bust to right of king, wearing crown, dot either side of head, legend around, rev. fire altar, without attendants (Sellwood type V, Plate I, 6, Gobl 14, M.-). Very fine and a very rare type.
