AUGUSTUS AS OCTAVIAN, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), plated silver denarius, uncertain Italian mint (probably Brundisium, maybe Rome), issued 32-29 B.C. (2.69 grams), obv. Octavian head bare to right, in dotted circle, rev. CAESAR on left curved downwards and DIVI F on right curved upwards, Pax standing to left draped, holding olive branch in left hand and cornucopiae in right hand, (S.-, RIC 252 var., C.69, cf.BMC 605), another silver denarius, similar mint and issue date, (3.035 grams), obv. Victory bust right, rev. [CAESAR] left, [DIVI F] right, Neptune naked standing to left, foot on globe, (S.455, RIC 256, C.60, BMC 615). First with piece out of edge and copper core visible in places, otherwise fine and rare, second poor. (2)

Ex. Baldwin September 1979 for first and October 1987 for second coin. Plated issues of this period are rare. The second coin recors the naval victory of Actium.
