ITALY, Lucania, Velia, (c. 305/4-293/290 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (7.46 grams), Period VII, obv. crested helmeted laureate head of Athena to right ornamented with wing upon a wreath, **F behind, **P* above, rev. lion walking to right, **F I above bunch of grapes between, **[V]ELHTWN in exergue, (cf. S.460, Williams 498 [same dies]). Good very fine, and a rare die combination.

Williams notes only 5 known specimens from this die combination.
