MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.21 grams), Amphipolis mint, issued c.336-323 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, cock to left, to right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6713, Price 79, Troxell [NS 21] Group E [E3], BMC 79a-c, Muller 392). Light stain on edge, otherwise nearly extremely fine.

An interesting symbol is this superb cockeral (rooster) in the left field.
