TIBERIUS, (A.D. 14-37), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 14-37, (3.95 grams), obv. laureate head of Tiberius to right, around TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVSTVS, rev. PONTIF MAXIM, Livia seated to right, with vertical sceptre and branch, (S.567, RIC 30, BMC 48). Well centred, unusually fine and attractive, nearly extremely fine and rare in this condition.

Ex. Spink & Son, September 1980 (No.7223, illustrated) with its ticket. Of Biblical importance as the issue is often described as the Tribute Penny (Mark 12: 14-17). See another example in this sale in the Jewish and Biblical coin section.
