ALEXIUS I, (A.D.1081-1118), silver histamenon nomisma, Constantinople mint, (3.9 grams), obv. Christ enthroned facing, wearing nimbus, raising right hand, in left hand the Gospels, IC XC across, rev. +ALEII*W **DEC*, around bust of Alexius facing, bearded wearing crown and loros, holding labarum and globe with cross, (S.1893, Hendy Pl.1,4). Unevenly toned, good fine/very fine and rare in silver.
