MC: C.G. 20 December 1917: 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in continually working under heavy fire and the most adverse conditions, with complete disregard for his personal safety. As Medical Officer he is invaluable to his battalion, not only in regard to his assistance in keeping the men medically and physically fit, but by his example of coolness, courage and good humour, when under fire.
