M.C. L.G: 1.January 1919: 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion toduty at Villers Bretonneux and Rosieres on 9th August 1918, in the handling of his battery during the advances. He set a splendid example to all ranks under him, and by his own unfailing energy kept his battery together in full support of the advancing infantry and most ably directed his fire on the fleeting targets under difficult and trying circumstances.' Died of wounds 22 August 1918. With copy of letter to next of kin.
