TURKEY. War Medal (Gallipoli Star). With small length of ribbon. BB & Co. on reverse. Good very fine.
With letter dated 3 September 1919 by 367 Leading Seaman V.I. Wilson RANBT, setting out the circumstances how he obtained this award from a Turkish Officer POW at El Arish in 1916 and the ribbon from another Turkish soldier. Leading Seaman Vivian Irwin Wilson a boat builder of Sydney enlisted on 8 July 1915 and served in the third reinforcements. Returned to Australia 29 May 1917.
