ITALY, Lucanaia, Velia, (c. 350-320 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (7.425 grams), Period VI, obv. helmeted head of Athena to left, wearing crested Phrygian helmet, ornamented with centaur, reversed K C monogram behind, rev. lion standing to left, devouring piece of meat between fore-paws, **UELHTWN in exergue, A above lion, (cf. S.456, Williams 339 (same dies, O.176/R.248), Hunterian 70). Very fine, and a scarce die combination.
