SICILY, Messana, (470-466 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.2 grams), obv. biga of mules driven to right by seated male charioteer, in exergue olive leaf off the flan, rev. MESSENION (some letters reversed), hare running to right, (cf.S.842, Caltabiano 181 [obv.die 102, rev. die 103, 4 specimens known]). Cut in edge, even light grey tone, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.
