CORINTHIA, Corinth, (350-306 B.C.), silver stater, (8.5 grams), obv. Pegasos flying to left, nothing below, rev. head of Athena to left, wearing plain Corinthian helmet, axe behind, (cf.S.2626, Calciati 494, BMC 8-9 [p.142, cf.Plate XXIX,6). Slightly double struck on the reverse, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
As the issue has no clear mint letter it has been attributed to Corinth as the symbol of the axe is known with a letter 'q' of Corinth on an obverse of one die.
