Fine-extremely fine.
New Zealand born Charles Arthur Wheeler O.B.E. (1881-1977) settled in Australia as a child. He studied art, painting and teaching, exhibiting and studying both in Australia and U.K.-Europe. During World War I Wheeler enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers and won the D.C.M. at Vimy, France in 1916. After the war he painted scenes of the Australian Army in action. Wheeler won major art contests that included the Archibald Prize in 1933.
