Virgil M. Brand formed the largest and probably the greatest collection of coins ever with over 300,000 pieces in the collection. These catalogues represent only a fraction of the collection and was portion of that part bequeath to Virgil's brother Armin who shared it with the other brother Horace. Armin disposed of most of his inheritance and the few coins left passed to his daughter who held them to her death, which formed these sales in the 1980's.
