FARRUKHSIYAR, (A.H. 1124-1131, A.D. 1713-1719), round gold mohur, struck at Akbarabad (Mustaqir-al-Khilafat) mint, Regnal year 6, issued A.H. 1129 (1716-7), obv. Farrukhsiyar name at top, date at centre left, rev. mint name on coin in centre and base, Regnal year in centre row, (cf.KM.390.4). A nazarana type, on a very full flan, nearly extremely fine and very rare.
All known specimens with this mint reading (for years 6 and 7) of this ruler are known only on this broad flan, they are all believed to be issued as only nazaranas. Nazarana coins were special prestige strikings intended for use as presentation coins. Unlike other donatives, they were struck for ordinary dies, but are distinguished from the circulation strikes by their full broad flans and careful striking. They were seldom issued prior to the accession of Shah Alam II in 1759.
