TASMANIA, Brighton Ploughing Association engraved medal in silver (38mm, 13.0 grams) by Charles Jones of LIverpool St., Hobart. Oberse 'Brighton Ploughing Association in a circle around a plough, reverse 'Prize/for the best/Plough/made in the district/October 6th/1853'. Fine/fair and extremely rare if not unique, the earliest engraved medal from Tasmania.

Sold with a photocopy of the Hobart Town Daily Courier showing J. Staples and Pat Manton won the first prize of Å“5 and the medal.
